Chris Pine stars as Jay Singletary in TNT’s six-episode limited series, I Am the Night, directed by Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins. The drama premieres Jan. 28.
The series tells the story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a young woman who was given away at birth and grows up outside of Reno, Nev. Everything changes when she makes a discovery that leads her to question the story she’s been told about her life and start investigating what she thought she knew.
As she pursues answers, she runs into Singletary, a former Marine-turned-reporter, who is suffering from a serious case of PTSD. Together, they follow a trail that leads them to Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a Hollywood gynecologist who is keeping many secrets of his own and may be tied to one of Los Angeles’ most infamous and unsolved crimes, the Black Dahlia murder.
Also starring are Leland Orser (Berlin Station) as Peter Sullivan, Yul Vazquez (Last Flag Flying) as Billis, Dylan Smith (Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Lemonade) as Sepp, Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) as Jimmy Lee, Justin Cornwell (Training Day, We Are Boats) as Terrence Shye, Jay Paulson (Mad Men) as Ohls and Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman) as Corinna Hodel.
Jenkins directed the series’ first two episodes. Sam Sheridan wrote five of the six episodes. The series is produced by Turner’s Studio T, with Jenkins, Anonymous Content and Sugar23’s Michael Sugar, Pine, Sheridan and Carl Franklin serving as executive producers. Franklin also directed two episodes.
