Jimmy Hilburn is joining Starz as chief marketing officer, reporting to Alison Hoffman, president, domestic networks, the network said Thursday. In his new position, he will oversee all of Starz’ marketing, media, publicity and creative teams.
Hilburn was previously director of marketing at Netflix, where he oversaw series launches for Bridgerton, Ozark, Narcos, House of Cards, Dear White People and more. He also helped establish Netflix’s stand-up comedy brand, “Netflix is a Joke,” and built creative teams around the world to support Netflix’s slate of international originals.
Prior to joining Netflix, Hilburn was director of marketing at AMC where he launched such programs as Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
Joining Hilburn is Susan Ievoli, who becomes senior vice president, publicity, events and awards, reporting to Hilburn. In her new role, Ievoli will oversee Starz’ publicity, events and awards teams, leading its program publicity and awards campaigns and strategy. She’s also responsible for events and talent relations.
Ievoli, who is based in New York, comes to Starz from The History Channel, where she was senior vice president, public relations and social media. She joined A+E Networks as director of publicity. Prior to working at A+E and History, Ievoli was a publicity executive at Turner Broadcasting, overseeing campaigns at TNT, TBS, Turner Classic Movies and truTV.
Finally, Robin Chacko has been promoted to executive vice president, direct-to-consumer, moving up from senior vice president, OTT marketing. She continues to report to Hoffman in her new position and takes over for Jennifer Minezaki-Washington, who was promoted in March 2021 to executive vice president, corporate and brand communications, reporting to Jeffrey Hirsch, Starz’ president and CEO.
Chacko joined Starz in 2017 as senior vice president, growth marketing and product management. In his new role, Chacko leads growth marketing, product management and subscriber operations for Starz on mobile, streaming boxes, game consoles, smart TVs and the web.
Prior to joining Starz, Chacko led product management and CRM for Jam City, and before that group operations for Tetris Hasbro and Pogo Studio at gaming giant Electronic Arts and head of game analytics at EA Mobile. Through his work across Jam City and EA, Chacko has helped launch and manage live services for more than 30 video games.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jimmy and Susan to the Starz team and elevate Robin’s oversight in a key area of the business,” said Hoffman in a statement. “These best-in-class executives are creative disruptors who are as strategic and analytical as they are innovative. They will further amplify the company’s momentum as we continue to grow our subscriber base and develop premium campaigns in support of our robust slate.”
