A pregnant Catherine of Aragon goes to battle for England in part two of Starz’ limited series, The Spanish Princess.
The Spanish Princess follows Starz’ other limited series The White Queen and The White Princess, all of which are drawn from best-selling novels by Philippa Gregory. In part two, Catherine (Charlotte Hope) struggles to carry a pregnancy to full-term while still wanting to fight for her adopted country and her marriage. Meanwhile, her husband, the impetuous King Henry VIII (Ruairi O’Connor), is increasingly losing interest as his wife fails to produce an heir.
Also starring in the series are Stephanie Levi-John as Catherine’s confidant Lina de Cardonnes, Georgie Henley as Henry’s younger sister and Queen of Scotland, Margaret Tudor, and Laura Carmichael as Margaret Pole.
New cast members include Ray Stevenson as Meg’s boorish husband, King James IV of Scotland and Sai Bennett as Henry and Meg’s sister Princess Mary, now of age to forge a political alliance for the Tudors through her own marriage. Andrew Buchan joins as the cultured and enigmatic Sir Thomas More and Peter Egan plays Tudor stalwart General Howard.
Emma Frost and Matthew Graham serve as executive producers and showrunners alongside EPs Charlie Hampton and Charlie Pattinson for New Pictures and Scott Huff and Colin Calendar for Playground.
The series’ eight-episode conclusion premieres Oct. 11 on Starz in the U.S. and Canada and internationally on the Starzplay streaming service.
