Last week, the Philippines’ Tenement Court was seen worldwide after a mural of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna—who died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26—went viral.

Now, the iconic basketball court will be the subject of SC Featured, the storytelling brand that brings compelling feature stories to ESPN’s news and information program.

“Saving the Tenement,” will chronicle the Taguig Tenement in the Philippines—a dilapidated, seven-story building used as a housing project in one of the poorest areas of Manila.

Despite the government’s attempts to vacate the building, residents refuse to leave for one reason: its basketball court, which has featured elaborate murals of professional athletes like Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Manny Pacquiao.

SC Featured stories air on SportsCenter during the NFL offseason. The season kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 9 with Saving the Tenement, which will be narrated by Jordan Clarkson, the only Filipino-American player in the NBA.
