Riptide Music Group has expanded its creative team with two new hires: Janine Kerr as the company’s new creative director, and Taylor Amazan as creative manager for trailers.

Richard Hellstern also has been promoted to vice president of operations.

Riptide Music Group provides music for advertising, movies, television, video games and multimedia productions. The expansion comes on the heels of a fall 2017 partnership with Mark Ross—son of Warner Communications founder and CEO Steve Ross—who made a multi-million dollar investment in the future growth of the company.

Over the past few months, Riptide has been using the funds to expand operations and personnel, acquire additional music, and sign and develop new songwriters, producers and recording artists.

As Riptide’s new creative director, Kerr will be responsible for placing the company’s music within film, television and promos, as well as overseeing the company’s licensing department.

She most recently served as vice president of Fox Sports Music, where she was involved in the music featured across sports programming including NFL Sunday, the Superbowl, college football, MLB, NASCAR, soccer, the Women’s World Cup, golf and more.

Before that, she held a director position as music supervisor and head of promo music for NBC Universal Promo Music Services, where she secured music for NBC, Bravo, USA, Syfy and Oxygen, as well as for news and sports programming and promos for such shows as The Voice, Parenthood, The Real Housewives franchise and Suits.

Taylor Amazan

As creative manager for trailers, Amazan will work closely with Riptide’s roster of composers and artists to creative and produce music for trailers.

She previously served as music supervisor and music producer at creative agency and trailer house Ant Farm, where she worked on marketing campaigns for movies such as Transformers, Mission Impossible, Fifty Shades of Grey, American Hustle, and video game Call of Duty. Her final project there was securing music for the Tomb Raider 2018 trailer, which featured the Destiny Child cover version of “Survivor.”

With experience in finance, publishing, writing and producing, Hellstern was promoted from royalties and finance manager to vice president of operations based on his ability to effectively head the daily operations of the growing company in a fast-changing music industry.

He got his start in music publishing and administration 14 years ago, after having spent 10 years in music production and performance. Previously at PEN Music Group, Inc., he has represented marquee catalogues such as the Bob Marley estate, along with artists including Olivia Newton John, Gina Schock of The Go-Go’s, and Don Felder of The Eagles, as well as platinum-selling copyrights by Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez and Luther Vandross.

Hellstern has also produced numerous musicals for the stage including The Full Monty, Into the Woods, and The Burnt Part Boys.

“Richard Hellstern has proven to be an invaluable member of the team and a natural leader,” Riptide CEO Keatly Haldeman said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier we are promoting him and that he has agreed to take on this responsibility. The company is much stronger with Richard directing operations.”

Dan Silver, vice president of creative, said Riptide is excited to have Kerr and Amazan join the company.

“In addition to their film and TV backgrounds, they also have strong relationships with artists around the world,” he said in a statement. “We anticipate big things in the coming months now that they are both onboard.”
