The CW’s Riverdale will pay tribute to the late Luke Perry when season four premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9.
The network released an all-new trailer during New York Comic Con on Sunday. It opens with Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) enjoying breakfast at Pop’s before Archie receives a devastating phone call that brings him to his knees.
His father Fred Andrews (Perry) has unexpectedly passed away.
“It hurts me that I never got to say goodbye,” Archie explains.
The trailer also shows classic Riverdale drama, including Betty’s growing concern about her missing mother, the Lodge family’s latest scandal and Archie’s transformation into a caped vigilante.
Season four of Riverdale premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c.
