AMC and AlterEgo captures all the fear and tension of AMC’s limited series, War of the Worlds, in this spot promoting both the series and the service it’s on, AMC Premiere.

AlterEgo Writer and Producer Megan Gygax leaned into the horror vibe when crafting the spot: “While some can feel tacky, when the horror trailer is done right, you are left with a genuine rush. It’s a build to a climax that leaves your heart pumping and wanting more,” she said in a statement.

Keeping with that tone, the edit teases the alien invasion without actually revealing the aliens.

“Rather than placing focus on the aliens, we wanted to lure people in with foreshadowing and the human experience throughout the invasion,” said Gygax.

Sound design, including the absence of sound, also played an important role in building suspense

The streaming service picked up BBC One’s reboot of the famous series in February. It stars Rafe Spall, Eleanor Tomlinson and Robert Carlyle and is executive produced by Damien Timmer, Preethi Mavahalli, Peter Harness, Craig Viveiros and Tommy Bulfin,
