HBO Max is bringing its reboot of Roald Dahl’s The Witches—starring Anne Hathaway, her Devil Wears Prada scene partner Stanley Tucci and Octavia Spencer—to the streaming service just in time for Halloween on Oct. 22.

In the meantime, the film, which had been intended for theatrical release, will be released in theaters internationally starting Oct. 28.

The Witches comes from the film-making team of Robert Zemeckis, Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro and Kenya Barris and tells the story of a boy who stumbles on a secret coven of witches who wants to turn all of the world’s children into mice.

The cast also includes Kristin Chenoweth and Chris Rock, with newcomer Jahzir Kadeen Bruno playing the movie’s brave young hero.

The Witches is a wonderful reimagining of Roald Dahl’s classic tale that combines world-class filmmaking with fantastic performances. It’s fun for the whole family and ideal for this time of year,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, in a statement.

“This film, with its stellar cast, is outstanding,” said Casey Bloys, chief content officer for HBO and HBO Max, also in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to use our platform to deliver timely, relevant and engaging new content during this time when the theatrical experience is not available to everyone.”

Movies, series and Halloween-themed TV episodes will be grouped in themes such as “Terrifying TV,” “Scares for All Ages,” “Foreign Frights” and “Creepy Cult Classics.”
