Racism is embodied by literal monsters in Jordan Peele’s Lovecraft County, coming to HBO in August.
Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, the series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he teams up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on a road trip across Jim Crow America in the 1950s. The three are searching for Freeman’s father (Michael Kenneth Williams) but the journey is much harder than any of them expected.
Lovecraft Country is executive produced by Misha Green, who also serves as showrunner. J.J. Abrams, Peele, Bill Carraro, Yann Demange (who also directed episode 1), Daniel Sackheim (who also directed episodes 2 and 3) and David Knoller (executive producer on episode 1) all also executive produce.
The series is produced by afemme, Inc., Bad Robot Productions and Monkeypaw Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
