Amazon Prime Video on Thursday dropped the first teaser trailer for its epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time, based on the best-selling series of novels by Robert Jordan. The series premieres Nov. 19 on the streaming service, with new episodes dropping until Dec. 24.
The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, a powerful sorceress in a world protected by women known Aes Sedai. In this world, women are able to access and channel magic, while men can only channel tainted magic, making them dangerous.
As the story starts, Moiraine arrives in the small town of Two Rivers, looking for the one who has been prophesied to either save or destroy humanity: the Dragon Reborn.
Amazon Studios worked with Los Angeles-based creative studio Mocean on the above teaser trailer.
The Wheel of Time was adapted for television by executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins. Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of iwot productions, Mike Weber, Ted Field of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe, and Uta Briesewitz will also serve as executive producers, with Briesewitz set to direct the first two episodes. Pike serves as producer and Harriet McDougal and Brandon Sanderson as consulting producers. The Wheel of Time is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
