VFX shop Framestore has added four senior creative hires in New York: Executive Creative Director Corey Brown, VFX Supervisor Andre Vidal and Compositing Supervisors Keno Naidoo and Theuns Van Rensburg.
“The growth and ambition of our offering has resulted in a need to expand our talent pool as we maintain and strengthen our position in the advertising community,” said Charles Howell, president, global advertising and content at Framestore, in a statement. “Welcoming this accomplished group to the team in New York will further ensure we’re collaborating on the very best creative work.”
Brown has more than 25 years of experience in the VFX industry, including spending the past 12 years at The Mill in New York. He has worked alongside such A-list directors as Baz Luhrmann, Darren Aronofsky, Peter Berg, Jake Scott and Simon McQuoid.
“I’m really impressed that a company of this size has managed to maintain such a close-knit crew, and I find that my sensibilities of collaboration and support really align,” Brown said, also in a statement.
Vidal also joins from The Mill. His most notable projects include work on Bud Light’s “Bud Knight” and Pepsi’s “The Call,” both of which aired during the Super Bowl, and on Cannes Lions Grand Prix award-winning “Leica 100.” He has also contributed to award-winning campaigns for such brands as Playstation, Nissan, DirecTV and Paramount Plus.
Naidoo joins Framestore as compositing supervisor (flame) after working for nearly two decades in his native South Africa. He has extensive experience working in Flame, Nuke, Houdini and Unreal, as well as color and on-set supervision, completing projects for such brands as Coca-Cola, Nissan, Puma and Jameson. Already at Framestore he worked on McDonald’s “Knowing Their Order’ Super Bowl LVII campaign.
Van Rensburg also hails from South Africa, bringing more than 12 years of VFX experience on commercial projects. Most recently, he spent four years in Switzerland as a flame artist and VFX supervisor, overseeing on-set supervision through to final mastering for such brands as Audi, Coca-Cola and Castle Lite. Before that, he spent time at Searle Street Post and Black Ginger in Cape Town. Since joining Framestore, Van Rensburg has worked on such projects as Nissan’s “Town of Basic” and Booking.com’s Super Bowl LVII spot “Somewhere, Anywhere.”
In other hires, Jordan Carroll has been promoted to dead of CG of Framestore’s Los Angeles and Chicago studios. As an established member of the Chicago team, Carroll will expand his responsibilities to the West Coast, managing the CG team and working with department heads.
