Hearst Television on Monday launched Field Notes, a weekly series airing exclusively on Facebook Watch that showcases coronavirus reporting by Hearst Television stations’ reporters in 26 TV markets across the U.S.

Each episode premieres first on Facebook Watch and then will be posted to the stations’ websites and app. As episode 1, above, indicates: each episode is a compilation of different coronavirus-related stories from around the country, such as the indefinite postponement of the NBA season and how that decision came to pass so quickly, flying over an empty Disneyworld and more.

“Local reporting is never more critical than in the times when our communities are most in need of reliable and accurate information,” said Andrew Fitzgerald, Hearst Television vice president and chief digital content officer in a statement. “We’re proud to amplify Hearst Television’s resonant and important reporting beyond the local communities we support, to help inform Americans of how this story is unfolding across the country. As our reporting adapts, we see this as an important time to reach across audience platforms, combining the complementary strength of Hearst’s broadcasts with the reach of Facebook to help serve the viewing public.”

This is the second series from Hearst for Facebook Watch. In September 2018, the company debuted Dispatches from the Middle. That series has nearly 220,000 followers with nearly 51 million minutes viewed in 2019.
