After a successful run on AMC’s streaming services, Sundance Now and Shudder, A Discovery of Witches is preparing for its network debut, starting with an introduction to the magical beings involved.
With the help of the show’s cast, we meet the witches, the most natural of creatures who have strong, reliable instincts and worldly knowledge. Each one has her own specialty—some use potions while others are elemential— but none are more powerful than Diana, the central character portrayed by Teresa Palmer.
The series was adapted from Deborah Harkness’s bestselling book of the same name that places readers in a world where witches, vampires and daemons secretly live among humans. There’s magic, mystery, and a forbidden romance as Diana discovers a valuable manuscript and embraces her true power.
Emmy-nominated Matthew Goode (The Crown) stars alongside Palmer (Lights Out), Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), Valarie Pettiford (Being Mary Jane) and Owen Teale (Game of Thrones).
A Discovery of Witches premieres Sunday, April 7 at 9/8c on BBC America and AMC.
