Netflix’s first look at Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka in a scene from the “Dark Baptism of Sabrina.”
She’s shown kneeling before Father Blackwood (Richard Coyle), and surrounded by Hilda Spellman (Lucy Davis), Zelda Spellman (Miranda Otto) and “The Weird Sisters” (Abigail Cowan, Adeline Rudolph and Tati Gabrielle.)
The second photo shows Sabrina in a red cloak.
Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story steeped in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. It takes a tone in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist as Sabrina wrestles to reconcile her dual nature—half witch, half mortal—while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit, says the streamer.
The series is set in the same universe as the CW’s Riverdale. Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, wrote the script and executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger.
The drama, from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions, premieres October 26 on Netflix.
