Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and country music star Trace Adkins will stop at nothing to protect their dynasty in Fox’s multi-generational music drama Monarch.
As King of Country Music Albie Roman and his wife, reigning Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman, Adkins and Sarandon lead a cast that also includes Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as their daughter, Nicky, an aspiring country-music singer herself, as well as Josh Sasse as their son Luke and Beth Ditto as their daughter Gigi.
Also starring are Meagan Holder, Inigo Pascual, Martha Higareda and Emma Milani. Tony winner Faith Prince, Adam Croasdell and Eva Amurri are featured in recurring roles.
Monarch is produced by Fox Entertainment. Screenwriter Melissa London Hilfers serves as creator, writer and executive producer. Michael Rauch (Instinct, Royal Pains) is an executive producer and showrunner. The Jackal Group’s Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady and top music manager Jason Owen (Sandbox Entertainment) also serve as executive producers. Jason Ensler directs and serves as an executive producer on the series premiere. Adam Anders is executive music producer. The series will feature original music and covers.
The series premieres in a special time period after the NFL’s NFC Championship on Sunday, Jan. 30 and then settles into its regular time slot on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
